

Disembodied growls, shadowy figures and driverless cars have all been reported seen along Holland Road in Angola. For years, the road has been the subject of countless ghost stories and urban legends, most of them centering around a grotesque loner known as “Pigman.”
According to local lore, Pigman was a butcher who placed severed pig heads on stakes around his property to ward off intruders. One night, a group of boys decided to trespass on Pigman’s property and disappeared. The next night, the pigs heads were replaced with those of the meddling boys.
“Everyone loves a good ghost story, but there is usually some truth behind it,” said Tony Burtis of Cheektowaga, who co-founded Western Door Paranormal with his wife, Phylina.
The couple has devoted much of their life to researching supposedly haunted areas and using special equipment to detect whether or not spirits or otherworldly beings are present. Among sites they have investigated in the area include parts of Lewiston, Old Fort Niagara, the Dunkirk Lighthouse and of course, Holland “Pigman” Road....
