
When it comes to questions about ghosts, Devin Sisk and Donna Raymond are two people you can call. Sisk, a paranormal investigator, and Raymond, a paranormal sensitive, have been leading Benicia's wildly successful Ghost Walks since October. For $25, they take people on a two-hour tour of First Street's purportedly supernatural spots, revealing who's haunting what -- and why.
To many, even skeptics, the tours are a harmless amusement. But others wonder if they're too gimmicky.
As for Raymond and Sisk, who live across the Carquinez Strait in Contra Costa County, they say they are trying to promote Benicia's history. And, take the spookiness out of the paranormal. Our whole goal is that people have fun on the tour, said Raymond, a 49-year-old Pleasant Hill resident. This isn't a crazy ... scary tour. This is a way to contact the other side in a very safe way with a group of people. And have a wonderful experience.
For more than 28 years, Raymond -- who hails from Southern California -- has been teaching people about ghostly activities. Mainly, not to be afraid. But it was just two years ago she made her entry into Benicia by offering monthly classes at Angel Heart 4 You, a spiritual gift and novelty shop downtown.
