You don’t have to go far to experience paranormal activity. In Peoria, the Madison Theatre, a historic structure that opened in the 1920s, is a hot spot for ghost hunter Sylvia Shults.
During her paranormal presentation Thursday at the Galesburg Public Library, Shults played a clip she recorded in the theater of a spirit softly saying “no.” This is known as electronic voice phenomena, she told the audience.
Another clip from the Old Bailey House in Macomb eerily resembled the sounds from the Peoria theater. In the clip, the audience heard Shults say to the spirit “say anything if you can if you’re around.” She is greeted by an unfamiliar voice saying “no,” a series of footsteps and then “why do it.”
“Sometimes they do tend to get a little testy,” Shults said.
