Google has begun allowing users to personally endorse search results and web pages. The move is the company's latest attempt to stave off rival Facebook while trying to jump onboard the social networking boom. Its '+1' button appeared alongside Google search results for select U.S. users from last night.

Clicking on the button lets people recommend specific search results to friends and contacts. Eventually, the feature may begin to influence the ranking of search results, though that is only under consideration. Results are now ranked via a closely guarded algorithm.

The feature is due to become available across the U.S. within weeks, and will then be applied to English-speaking nations in months, followed swiftly by a roll-out across the globe.

Google, the world's leader in Internet search, is battling to maintain its share of web user' time and attention, which is increasingly getting taken up by Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.

I've come to the conclusion that Google's end game is a one-world dictatorship owned and operated by Google.

Once they have everything mapped and wired there will be no place to run to.
