It is supposedly cats that have nine lives - but Lizabeth the terrier must have at least two. The nine-year-old Jack Russell cheated death this week after an alligator dragged her into the water as she was on a walk with her owner, Tom Martino.

The pair were strolling along the Hillsborough River in Tampa on Thursday when the 6ft4in alligator suddenly attacked, wrestling 15lbs Lizabeth into the water. 'When I looked real close, the gator had her in its mouth,' Martino said.

I've got one of these dogs and believe me, they're a force to be reckoned with. Once they get hold of something they just don't let go, brave and loyal little dogs  :D So glad this one survived.
