Making news: Pat Regan, above. being interviewed on Today in America about the UFO footage from Cumbria, right

THE story of a mysterious UFO-like object which was filmed by a Cumbrian dog walker is being talked about all over the world.The footage shot by Bob Atkins captured a solid-looking object as it shot across the skyline above a south Cumbrian beach.

Since the News & Star published the video on our website, nearly 25,000 people have read the story. News of the video has also sparked a debate across the globe, with people downloading it from as far afield as Pakistan and the US.

A major US TV station has also now run the story, interviewing UK author Pat Regan, who has given an account of the video in his book UFO: The Search for Truth.

In the TV report, viewers are told that controversy is “swirling” around the video across the UK.

please stop this viral video, it is clearly a fly. the video is probably from a camera phone and the resolution is very poor. fly, that's why it comes in so fast and leaves fast. remember when rods were huge news on tv, well they proved that they were bugs using a high speed camera that couldn't be captured on camera properly because they move too fast.

Hello ufo.

I at first considered it to be an bug as you suspect, yet later on after studying close ups etc I was not convinced it was such an item. We went though many different suggestions of what it could have been, yet nothing accurately fitted the bill.

We do need to keep an open mind and not 'censor' the freedom of others to decide for themselves as you appear to suggest; with comments like "please stop this viral video". Is someone forcing you to watch the video with a gun against your head perhaps?

Viewing figures have been significant in the US over Bob's video, regardless of what or what not the UFO is.




And ufo, at the end of the day my friend I would not allow yourself to get so stressed over this issue.

It is very difficult to establish what this actually is with any sort of certainty. It is certainly interesting. Do you have any idea why the frame rate is so poor (clip seems to stagger and jump), Pat?

Regardless, the interest that has been shown in the video has certainly roused some interesting debate. Things have calmed down now but at its peak the front page of this site was serving 19 unique people a second. I actually thought the site was going to fall over at one point but it stood up surprisingly well.

I think it was just taken with a phone cam but you would have to ask Bob for more on that score. I simply assisted him via uploading the clip. The bit seen is just a small part as he was filming his dog playing therein. Possibly seeing as the clip is on YouTube the connection is poor at times - it seems smoother in the original.


Interest is in fact massive and this is the current viewing figure on YouTube: 100,181.

I am really extremely pleased the site is doing so brilliantly too - great work guys. You seem to have the recipe for success!
