Twitter is launching its own URL shortening service to increase the transparency of links posted on its social networking site.
In a tweet sent out to its entire user base, the company said the move was being taken to improve security, which has been hit by scams which lead to fraudulent sites or viruses.
Due to launch by the end of the year, T.co will ‘wrap’ tweeted web addresses in a simplified link which will display the original domain name so users know it is trusted.
