With the revelation that meat from the offspring of a cloned cow has entered the British food chain, Vandyk-K Integ Paradise 2 - the clone at the centre of the controversy - will join the ranks of the most famous.

Dolly the Sheep
First mammal to be cloned from an adult cell. Created by scientists at the Roslin Institute near Edinburgh. Born in July 1996. She lived until the age of six.
Kaguya the fatherless mammal
First ever fatherless mammal, cloned in Japan in 2004. Genetic material from two female mouse eggs was modified so the one fertilised the other.
Idaho Gem the mule
First cloned mule. Created by scientists at the University of Idaho in 2003. The project was financed by the president of the American Mule Racing Association and the clone went on to compete in races with other normal mules.
