A STRONG 6.2 magnitude earthquake has struck Papua New Guinea, but no tsunami warning was immediately issued.
The quake struck at 7.48pm (AEST) with its epicenter located 15km west of the town of Kandrian on New Britain island and at a depth of 40km, the United States Geological Survey said.
