During my years of writing about the unknown I have only had a handful of encounters with the world of ghosts. All of the events were by way of others who were dealing with ghostly problems. I managed to see things I did not understand but truly my only part was of a observer. Frankly for me that was enough! I have looked for years to find someone I thought was a true professional in this area of the paranormal without too much success.
There seems to be a abundance of those who have been named Ghost Hunters but few who seem to really know what they are doing.
Of course this is only my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt. I will tell you I think this is one subject where those looking in to it need to be well informed and careful. I do not think it is a place for those looking for fun, a social club or fame without experience or education on how to and how not to do this.
I also found a great deal of the information out there on this subject to be redundant and many investigations empty or handled in a off handed dangerous method until I came across this man. Richard Palmisano from The Searchers Group based out of Canada is in my opinion a top notch professional Investigator of the unknown world of ghost or spirit haunting.
Richard is a intelligent man who runs a first class operation along with his brother and group members. Richard and his group use both the newest technology as well as the older proven methods to research a case. Richard and his team are not crash and burn in their approach to an investigation and understand it takes time and lots of data collected over long hours and many days to figure out what is happening in the cases they investigate.
The Searcher Group impresses me as they do not take on cases of wind blowing through old houses and try to fabricate them in to a evil entity or looming ghost. They only investigate cases they feel have the bones of being true anomalies.
Along with long hours of surveillance with both video and audio equipment as well as personal time spent in a area of investigation Richard and his group research the history of the haunted area and bring in the talents of well tested Mediums.
The difference with this group and many others is the extend this group goes to in finding those who are truly gifted in medium or psychic abilities , proven and experienced in handling what they may find in their investigations of the unknown. Not only are they very picky on who they use on their cases Richard and his group use at least two trusted mediums. They always have the mediums come alone at different times, never together to test if they come up with the same findings.
This group takes time, energy and great care in handling their work and it shows in the outcome of their investigations. Richard told me that he grew up in an old family home that was haunted and that is how his interest bloomed towards the world of the unknown. Growing up Richard clearly remembers objects moving in the house that should not be moving as well as footsteps walking down the halls and stairs as well as voices talking where no one was to be found.
The house was a long time family owned property making it possible for Richard to return to it as an adult with his brother and The Searcher Group to do an investigation . What they discovered was that the haunting was that of relatives that had long passed away who had lived in the house before them.
The spirits in the house were found to be his uncle , his cousin and some other man who was not a family member. It seems Richard had a uncle who died at the young age of 38 in the living room of this family home years ago. Sadly he left behind a wife and young daughter. Incredibly this uncles daughter also died at age 38 in the living room of this house years later.
The father and daughter seem to have stayed with the house and were busy going about their business which created a great deal of the haunting events. Another man or spirit was also picked up in the house. This spirit was a nosey annoying energy however I do not think his identity was nailed down as well as his uncle and cousin. Richard has wonderful theories on haunting activity. Richard thinks our souls or life energy has a free will after released from the human body.
He thinks it may be possible for us to make the choice to stay earthbound. It is also possible that we may be able to pick a special or happy time we experienced in our human form and go to that time and place remaining there living that experience for as long as our soul desires. The fact the living may also be in that space in the present time may have us bumping in to each other- but not at the same time of ongoing history. Let us think of a wonderful time someone may have had during the 1940's at a lake house surrounded by family and friends. It may be possible we could return to that summer and that lake house as it was in the 1940's and live those summers again or forever as a soul.
The fact the same lake house may have been renovated three times since 1940 with new families living there today is not seen by the soul happily rooming through the building as it stood years ago. The clash can create a cross over or confusion with the soul seeing flashes of us on their turf or we them which creates a ghostly experience for the present time and the people living in it.
Richard also thinks we have the choice to pass in to the light which he feels is a immediate trip to another life. Richard feels the light may be the canal of rebirth directly in to another life form. I find Richard to be a thoughtful bright man who I plan to spend a great deal of time interviewing . I think we all need a intelligent approach and new thinking to finding answers to so many questions in the subjects of the paranormal.
Richard is one of those I feel who are the ground breakers and shakers on the road to answers and truth to that which is considered unknown. I asked Richard if people's spirits maintain the same characteristics in personality as they did when they were living? He told me he thought they did. If they were difficult and fussy in life they were most likely the same in their soul energy.
Richard told me of a event when he along with his brother and The Searcher Group were investigating a haunting. He said the group sat down in the main living area of the house they were investigating to have a meeting on how they wanted to precede in this particular case. Richard said they all sat around and discussed what they needed to without incident or noticing or hearing anything odd at all.
When the meeting ended the group all stood up to walk out of the room. All of a sudden Richards brother stood up and went flying across the room flat down on his face. The group a bit startled started to laugh at the brother thinking his fall was an act of extreme clumsiness . The brother however was angry and wanted to know who made him fall? It seems when he stood up to walk his feet became tangled which sent him flying through the air. They looked down to find that during the meeting someone or something had tied the man's shoe laces together resulting in his flying acrobatics across the room.
The man walked in to the room with the group , they all sat together, no one got up and tied his shoes together and no one noticed it being done- however tied they were and flying across the room he went. A ghost with a funny bone seemed to fit the bill in this case.
I plan to write more about Richard and his group's findings. I also will be writing more about Richards theories and opinions of the shapes and physical forms ghosts are seen or manifest.
Richard was like a gust of clean air in a subject that has long needed a good airing out!

The Searcher Group is presently working on a huge case involving a large area that has been reported to be extremely haunted. The area dates back to an 1812 battle field and will take a great deal of work and time for this Investigative group to figure out what is taking place in this special and exciting case.
