Discovery News' Larry O'Hanlon has a great story up in the Dinosaur section on new insights into how a mass extinction at the end of the Triassic period led to the rise of dinosaurs.

In it there's a very dramatic picture from the New Mexico Museum of Natural History that depicts an ancient crocodile locked in combat with an early dinosaur:All well and good -- life on the streets of prehistory was raw.

You'd think humans would've learned from our ancient ancestors' missteps. But last week, Rob Morris a member of the species Homo sapiens -- evidently protesting loudly against his self-preservation instinct -- was reliving prehistory during the first ever Freestyle Alligator Wrestling Championships in Florida:

 Well from the looks of that pic of the guy with his head in a alligators mouth I'd say we've become a bit ignorant of the fact that we could become low on the food chain if we keep playing with wild animals that mean business.

Which leads me to the question.  When will humans realize that animals that are wild should not be held in captivity for enertainment?  Can't they just let animals be animals and do what is instinctively their right?  For instance the killer whale that attacked his trainer.  The trainer knew she should not be in that tank with that whale. He had killed before "Was it the whales fault?" No I don't believe so.  You take a bull killer whale and use him for amusement.  Knowing you should not go into the tank with him and what does the trainer do?  Just as I said..Let the animals be what they are supposed to be not what we want them to be.."Amusing enertainment".
