Actor Christopher Cazenove was critically ill in hospital last night after collapsing at home. Old Etonian Cazenove, 66, best known for his role in the Eighties soap Dynasty, has been in intensive care for two weeks, suffering from septicemia. Last night his former wife, actress Angharad Rees, was at his bedside at St Thomas’ Hospital in London with their son Rhys, 33.
It is understood that Cazenove suffered migraines on a business trip to California and collapsed when he arrived home in London. ‘He has been in a coma and everyone is incredibly worried about him,’ said a friend. ‘He was in a life-threatening condition but doctors think they have stabilised him now. ‘The family are all at his bedside and praying that he will make a full recovery.’
Cazenove and Ms Rees divorced in 1994 after 21 years’ marriage and she then had a two-year relationship with actor Alan Bates. Ms Rees, now 60, married David McAlpine, from the construction family, in 2005. She now has a jewellery design company. Cazenove has been in a relationship for seven years with Isabelle Davies, who is in her 30s.
In 1999, the eldest son of Cazenove and Ms Rees, Linford, 25, was killed instantly when his car hit the central reservation of the M11 while he was driving home from Cambridge University after gaining a master’s degree in philosophy.
