Why do we find cemeteries and other places of the dead so fascinating? Is it the creepy thrill of walking among the departed? Or are we secretly glad that we are not - yet - among them? Perhaps the attraction is the just slightly sad serenity of many necropolises.

We'll leave you to ponder the nature of this morbid attraction as you stroll through our deadly dozen of the world's most atmospheric and (dead) celebrity-studded final resting places.
