The FBI is set to release its secret dossier on Michael Jackson to the public within the next two days. The agency plans to declassify 333 pages of the bulky file detailing threats and extortion attempts made against the late superstar.

The documents will also include information about the child molestation investigations into Jackson in 1993 and 2004. One of the seven files was compiled in London and the others came from Los Angeles and the agency’s headquarters in Quantico, Virginia, about 30 miles outside Washington.

The FBI said it hopes to make the papers available before Christmas, perhaps even as early as tomorrow.

Just over half of the complete 679-page file will remain confidential despite applications for them to be released to the public under America’s Freedom of Information Act.

THE FBI today released its investigative files on Michael Jackson, revealing that its offices in Los Angeles, New York, Manila and London had assisted local authorities in child molestation claims in 1993.

Between 1993 and 1994 and separately between 2004 and 2005, Jackson was investigated by California law enforcement agencies for possible child molestation. He was acquitted of all such charges. The FBI assisted in the investigation on both occasions.

The files, released due to a Freedom of Information request by media agencies, also show that in 1995 a US Customs agent in Florida requested the FBI examine a videotape connected with Jackson to see if it contained child pornography.

Forensic specialists discovered that the tape was a "poor quality third or fourth generation recording".
