This new picture of the Crab Nebula, one of the most studied objects in the sky, has been released by Nasa. It is the product of a cosmic collaboration, combining data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory, the Hubble Space Telescope, and the Spitzer Space Telescope.
The Chandra X-ray image is shown in blue and is helping astronomers understand the high-energy particles coming from the dead star's core, known as a white dwarf.
The Hubble images of visible light are in yellow and red and the Spitzer infrared image is shown in purple, capturing the nebula's expanding debris cloud.
