Sylvia Shults ain’t afraid of no ghosts, so she’s not calling Ghostbusters. Rather, she is fascinated with the spirit world and likes to investigate it herself. Her investigation revolved around the Peoria State Hospital in Bartonville, a place that is well-known for being haunted. The hospital, where the mentally ill were treated, operated from 1902 to 1973. To begin her investigation, Shults said she attended different events at the State Hospital. She began talking to people who had many stories to tell — stories of a non-worldly nature. Shults is sharing what she’s learned in her new book “Fractured Spirits: Hauntings at the Peoria State Hospital.” The book, published by Dark Continents Publishing, comes out Feb. 15......
