In 1955 Andrew Petro faced death; he would never be the same. He ate a light lunch, jumped in to the cold water with a belly flop. As he was swimming he began to cramp in his stomach and groin. He was drowning and gave into the voice that asked him to stop resisting death and promised he would return to life. He describes the experience in vivid detail. His senses were heightened. There was a bright light, much brighter than the sun. He was no longer in pain. The voice was one that brought comfort and reassuring strength.
