
Ecuador has granted political asylum to Julian Assange in a move that will deepen a bitter diplomatic row with Britain. The WikiLeaks founder has been hiding out in the country's embassy in London for the last 56 days in a bid to avoid extradition to Sweden for questioning over sexual assault allegations.
