Recent discoveries of items found on inhabited Nikumaroro atoll, between Australia and Hawaii, might be clues to solve the mystery of Earhart's vanishing.
While the search for Earhart's airplane explores the deep waters off of Nikumaroro, now Gardner Island, where she might have landed, on July 2, 1937, with Fred Noonan, her guide – one of the most experienced global aerial navigators.
