For the six decades the Queen has been an enduring figure in the life of the country as head of state, during her reign she has seen 11 prime ministers come and go with David Cameron her 12th, while Barack Obama is also the 12th US president to hold office since Her Majesty acceded to the throne.....

'In this special year, I dedicate myself anew to your service'

Can't imagine Duchess of Dolittle ever saying words like this (and meaning it)  Our Queen was 25 when she ascended the throne and has maintained her position with dignity and grace for most of that time, I say "most" because I feel she let the side down over Diana, Princess of Wales' untimely death etc but that's history   God help us all when William and Kate get the job
