Three people were left in a trance when a hypnotist tripped and knocked himself out during a stage show. David Days had just convinced a woman and two men that they were Martians when he fell over a leg of one of the participants and passed out.
Stage crew rushed to his side but were unable to rouse him. The 100-strong audience thought the commotion was part of the act and applauded. When they finally realised it was an accident, the crowd filed out of the auditorium.
The hypnotist came round a short while later. He then recovered sufficiently to bring the three participants out of their trance. Mr Days, 37, who has hypnotised members of boy band Blue on TV, was bruised but did not need hospital treatment. The bizarre incident happened as Mr Days neared the end of his two-hour show at the Royal Manor Theatre in Portland, Dorset, on Friday.
Tara Nix, his manager, said: 'David was knocked out for a little while -- about three minutes or so -- and we did ask the audience to leave and brought the curtain down.
'But they thought it was part of the act. Even when an announcement was put out, the people didn't believe it. In the end, a sound engineer had to convince them. 'But David was OK and was able to bring them back out of the trance.
