Two Danish space enthusiasts successfully launched a home-made unmanned rocket over the Baltic Sea today. Peter Madsen and Kristian von Bengtson used a barge near the Danish island of Bornholm as a launch pad for their 30ft (9m), 1.6- ton rocket, which flew some five miles (8km) high into the blue sky.
'It was a fantastic flight,' Mr Madsen said after the projectile took off at 1432 GMT following an earlier ignition failure. 'The joy was huge. I looked back at the launch ramp and then I realised it had gone.'
