In August 2006 new evidence was supposedly found that would shed new light on the mystery surrounding the November 1953 Kinross UFO case. A Michigan based company known as The Great Lakes Dive Company announced that they had discovered the wreckage of the missing F-89 Scorpion interceptor and another unknown object on the bottom of Lake Superior. The Great Lakes Dive Company is reportedly owned by a group of engineers and professional divers who share a common interest in searching for old shipwrecks.
The history of the Kinross Case is a fascinating one. On November 23rd 1953 an object was tracked by radar over the Soo Locks. Originally reported as being stationary over the locks, the object began to quickly move out over Lake Superior once an F-89 Scorpion all-weather interceptor was scrambled from the Kinross Air Force Base in Michigan in pursuit. Minutes into the pursuit one of the Ground Control Intercept observers was alarmed to note that the F-89 Scorpion and the UFO had seemingly come into contact, observed on the radar scope as becoming a single blip. Moments later the blip vanished from the radar screen altogether. Speculation was that the F-89 Scorpion and the UFO had collided mid-air, but a massive search and rescue effort failed to turn up any sign of a crash, the interceptor, or its two-man crew....
