Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 1990. The sighting of a glowing red orb in the November night sky ignited Sue Demeter St-Clair’s inquiring mind. Finding “thoughtful and intelligent people who were looking into these extraordinary experiences without prejudice” shaped her investigative mandate.

Sue recounts her experience which took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada:

On November 4th, 1990, at approximately 1 a.m., I was getting ready to go to bed for the evening. My now ex-husband, children, and my sister who was visiting at the time, had already turned in for the evening. I had been watching an “Elvira Mistress of the Dark” movie with my brother-in-law, when I looked up at the clock. Realizing it was way past my bedtime, I got up to lock the sliding glass doors to our balcony. That singular moment in time, and seemingly mundane and insignificant decision changed the focus of my life in a very profound way.

At the time we were living on the 10th floor of an apartment condo building, and as I had young children, it was my habit to make sure those doors were always locked. I will also mention this apartment had a south-southeast exposure with a clear view of Lake Ontario and the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. As I went to lock the door I observed a large, red, glowing orb through the glass. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. I quickly looked back towards the TV thinking it was a reflection. It wasn’t. In my pajamas, I stepped out onto the balcony. I was born in the 1950’s. I have one younger brother. All my other siblings are older than I am. Our parents have passed over as well as most of our Aunts and Uncles. On my father’s side we had only one Aunt left who was in her early 90s.

Aunt Betty was a lively lovely woman who always had a happy attitude that was positive and strong no matter how difficult her days were-. Betty would always be found standing  strong with an attitude that was marveled at by those who knew her. Aunt Betty lived through enormous trauma that would have snapped most people but Betty was not everybody and Betty survived it all.

We all loved Aunt Betty and were happy she lived a long life allowing her to be there for our family for over  90  years. Only at the very end of her life when Betty finally became ill did she slow down her otherwise busy active long life. During the end days of her life on earth Betty took time to say good bye to us all and even sent us each a piece of her jewelry or an item from her life handpicked by her, wrapped by her and sent to each of us with a note from her telling us to keep it as a part of her to remember her by. I received my small package of earrings and keep them in the top draw of my jewelry chest so she is always in part still with me. Betty was a special lady.

One of my older sisters spent many hours talking to Aunt Betty during her last days of life. She asked Aunt Betty if she would do all she could to contact her after she passed over to give my sister and the rest of the family a positive affirmation that the soul which is the energy of life  continued on after the   human body dies . Apparently the conversations between them on this subject were intense and detailed. Since most of my family already believes in the continuation of the soul after death I was a bit surprised my sister needed this message request from Aunt Betty.  Obviously she did and together they planned for Betty to reach out if she could after passing. My family has a history of visits from deceased loved ones so I figured my sister just wanted to try to add a requested visit to the list of relative’s spirits making themselves known to the family.

My Aunt Betty died and we all knew we would miss her. We also felt sad as she was the last of the living family members on my father’s side. All we had now were our memories of the days when our family was young and our parents and Aunts and Uncles filled our holidays and family times. It was difficult for my siblings and I to face the fact that  we were now the old people in the family.

A few months after Aunt Betty passed over my sister was at home reading in her living room. She was sitting in a chair located in front of a large sunny window. Her husband and son were both at home at the time but not in the room with her.

My sister told us that as she sat there she felt someone touch her on her shoulder and whisper clearly in her ear her name. The event frightened my sister so she jumped out of her chair knocking it over in her escape and started to yell for her family. When her husband and son came running in to the room they found my sister shaking and upset. She told them Aunt Betty had just tapped her on her shoulder and called her name in her ear. My sister was positive it was not her imagination as she requested Aunt Betty try to do just that type of thing a day or so before she died. Aunt Betty came through and my sister was beyond excited yet also frightened.

My sister told us all that she was positive it was a visit from Betty as her name was said clearly in Betty’s voice with Betty’s accent. Aunt Betty was born in Ireland and she kept part of her brogue her entire lifetime. She had a way of saying all of our names that was unlike anyway anyone else said them. You knew at once when Betty was calling you due to the little twist she placed on each of our names. It was part of what made her special to us all.

I was a bit confused why the event frightened my sister to the degree it did. She requested the visit from my Aunt and she knew other relatives had made their presence known to us in the past however this planned visit from Betty that she purposely set up with her before her death seemed to throw my sister for a loop.  I think it was a lesson in being careful for what you wish for that seems to be continued to play out for us all.

A few weeks after Betty tapping my sister on the shoulder and calling her name my sister informed me that she was still having problems with continued odd events happening in her house. She told me things were falling off of table tops for no reason. She also has little objects around the house with motion sensors in them that play a song or make a sound when someone walks by them that were being set off when no one was in the room where they were located. One day my sister sat at her kitchen table enjoying a cup of tea. Across from the table on a shelf on the wall stood a little wooden bird that would chirp when someone walked by it. The little bird started to chirp as my sister sat there alone in the room. She could see the sensor being tripped as the little bird sang its song yet no one else was in the room making it impossible for the sensor to be set off. This experience really upset and frightened my sister. It seemed Aunt Betty was really driving home the message that she was there and wanted my sister to recognize that fact.

I did not have too much to say about the situation as I did not think it odd that my sister was getting the confirmation she requested. I just listened and thought Betty was giving it her all!

Move ahead about a week to my house. I was home one afternoon working in my office along with my spouse and his brother. We were all on the first floor of my house. I was absorbed in whatever it was I was working on when I heard my name called loudly and clearly from the interior of my house. The odd thing was it sounded like a woman’s voice.  My husband and his brother heard it as well as I heard them both yell out “Hello- is someone here?” I thought someone came to visit and they were greeting them as they entered the house. Within seconds both my husband and his brother walked in to my office to see why I was yelling my own name? I told them it was not me and I heard it too. We searched the house and outside the house but did not find anyone around. That was the start of it. For weeks after we all would hear my name being called but now we could hear that accent and the odd way in which Betty would say my name. It would happen often in the late afternoon. We have a house full of musicians here and guitars and banjos are found everywhere. We would be sitting eating dinner and hear an instrument being strummed without anyone being near it. Things would also fall on the floor that should not be able to fall from desks where we worked or in the kitchen when we prepared meals. It was beginning to really annoy my family and frighten them as well.

Finally I was at home one afternoon alone in the house working while my family was outside chopping wood left from Hurricane Sandy when I heard the loud clear accent of my Aunt slowly and calmly call my name. I stopped what I was doing and stood up and called out to my Aunt. I said: “Aunt Betty I know my sister made this agreement with you for you to contact her when you passed over so we would know that life goes on. I know you are doing this to comfort us but Aunt Betty you’re upsetting my family and frightening them too. I know you are there and that we will continue on but please stop visiting us. I will never forget you and love you for contacting us but please do not come back anymore. It is time for you to move on. I am sorry but please leave my home and know I will see you again when I get to the other side. We all love you but the visits are not working out. You have to leave now. We love you”

I then went back to work. We never heard any more from Aunt Betty in my house. My sister however continued to suffer from strange things and sounds in her house. I told her what I had done and told her to do the same thing. I told her to simply talk to Betty when she next visited and that she needed to also think clearly about what she wishes for in the future as this time she seemed to bite off more than she could handle with the persistence of Aunt Bettys visit’s. My sister feels awkward asking my Aunt to leave when she was the one who insisted she visit but until she does I think Betty will continue to reach out.

One of my brothers called the other day to check in and to tell me about the odd things going on at his house.  I reminded him about my sister and her request and my experience.  My brother now a bit annoyed wanted to hang up so he could call the sister who started it all.  Just another day in the world of my big family and all its members both dead and alive!  I guess it is true that we all must be careful what we wish for!

Some time ago I posted a few thoughts on the introduction to The Afterlife Interviews, Volume 1, by Jeffrey A. Marks. I'd read the introduction online, and I was critical of it because I thought the author had oversold the novelty of his book, suggesting that detailed descriptions of conditions in the afterlife had seldom or never been channeled through mediums. Still, I felt a little bit bad about dismissing the book on the basis of the opening pages, without having read the rest. So after some delay, I finally got around to reading the book itself. And I enjoyed it.

Marks is a medium living in Washington state, where he is involved in a ghost-hunter society. His plan for the book was fairly simple. He wrote out a list of questions that he wanted his sitters to ask during his sessions. The sessions were recorded and transcribed, and his answers became the basis for this book. Before fielding questions about the afterlife, Marks brought through enough evidential material to satisfy the sitter and himself that he had made legitimate contact with the other side.

Naturally, the all-important question is: how do we evaluate material like this? I don't know of any really scientific way to do it. It is, after all, always possible that the medium got the evidential material from the other side (or via telepathy, clairvoyance, etc.) but relied on his subconscious mind to supply the non-evidential communications. Most mediumistic sessions seem to consist of a mixture of legitimate messages and subconscious invention, and it may be impossible to entirely separate the wheat from the chaff. The fact that we are dealing with only a single medium here complicates the situation. Had several mediums been involved, and had their statements dovetailed even though the mediums were kept in the dark about what their colleagues had said, the results might be more scientifically meaningful.

Still, any information along these lines can be helpful – and ultimately I think it has to be assessed according to one's own personal, subjective sense of what rings through or feels right. I admit that this is in not a scientific approach, but there are limits to the scientific method, especially when dealing with esoteric matters. And I have to say that nearly all of what Marks communicated did ring true to me. Moreover, some of it fit in rather neatly with my own speculations about the nature of the afterlife, as expressed in some of my previous posts. Perhaps it's just confirmation bias, but when a medium starts channeling information that matches my own hypothesis about how things work on the other side, I'm more inclined to take it seriously.....     Magic and Freemasonry flourished in the late 1700s in Britain. It was so successful that many trades set up their own similar organisations with their own lodges. After all, they do doubt thought, why should it just be Masons who had mutual support and protection for their trade secrets. What many members of these newer organisations didn't always appreciate was that they were also dabbling in a form of magic.

    Freemasons were initiated by being led blindfolded, bare footed or with one foot slip-shod, with clothes rearranged to expose parts of the body, were challenged with a sword, had a noose round their neck and had to swear a loyalty before being 'reborn'. This initiation went back to the Ancient Mystery Schools. Millers, Shoemakers, Coopers and many others tried to duplicate these ceremonies and often created pseudo-history for their lodges.

Michael Tymn is probably today's foremost authority on European and North American mediumship of the late 19th and early 20th centuries – a subject matter that he covers in a blog and in several books, including his most recent: Resurrecting Leonora Piper.

As the title indicates, the book's purpose is to rekindle interest in Mrs. Leonora Piper, the turn-of-the-century Boston medium who became the principal subject of investigation by psychical researchers in America for over 20 years. Unassuming, sensible, and decidedly "normal" in all outward respects, Mrs. Piper was happily married and had two daughters. She took a small annual stipend from the researchers for the use of her time, but could have earned far more had she been interested in exploiting her talents for commercial gain. She sought no publicity and downplayed her abilities on the rare occasions when she consented to any media coverage. In a newspaper story she once speculated that the communications might be coming to her via mental telepathy from the living, a statement maliciously characterized as a "confession" by debunkers (most of whom, naturally, don't believe in telepathy either, so it's hard to see how the so-called "confession" does them any good).

Resurrecting Leonora Piper is an excellent summary of Piper's best cases, largely passing over the weaker sessions and the misfires. As Tymn puts it, he is acting like Piper's attorney, laying out the evidence in the light most favorable to his client. "If it is seen as an apologia for Mrs. Piper," he writes at the end, "so be it." In his view, the book is a necessary corrective to debunking accounts that overemphasize problematic sessions while downplaying or ignoring the more evidential ones.

Tymn's book makes it abundantly clear why early psychical researchers devoted so much time and effort to Piper, and why for many of them she (along with Gladys Osborne Leonard in England) was the "white crow" whose abilities established the reality of supernormal perception, whatever its ultimate source (spirits or ESP).........continues

During the holiday season I was able to visit and catch up with friends and relatives. One of my friends comes from a large Irish family living here on Long Island New York. My friend told me the following account of a strange situation that took place with his family during the past year. His life and that of his family was both saved and changed by the warnings of his mother’s ghost. Below find the story exactly as my friend shared it with me. This is what he told me happened to his middle brother as well as his older brother and sister. The event took place on the east end of Long Island New York:

“My middle brother, a few years older than me, owned a large house on the east end. He raised his family in the house as well as had a wing added that my mother lived in until the end of her life. My brother lost his wife when his son was about 10 and the fact that  my mother was there worked out well for my brother and his boy.

My brother’s son grew up and got married, my mother passed away and my brother no longer wanted to live alone in the big old empty house. His son married a local girl and my brother gave the house to his son to live in with his new wife. My brother now lives near my house which is close to his work and the rest of our big family in the center of Long Island.

After a few years of marriage my brother’s son, who now lived in my brother’s house, decided to renovate and expand the old house in to a huge modern home. This was around the time my brother started to notice a cold odd behavior towards him from his son’s wife and her family.

My brother and I come from a tight knit close family.  Although we did not mention it to our brother the rest of the family also noticed odd, rude and unkind behavior towards our family from his son’s wife and her family.  It was not a major issue but it was a fact that none of us enjoyed spending too much time with them. The young woman was often disrespectful and insulting to many of our family members. Her family treated my family coldly as well as being just flat out rude.   Since we do not act this way towards one another dealing with these unkind unpleasant people was new to my happy loving large family. The young wife and her family had a dark negative energy about them that was clearly recognized by all the members of our warm happy Irish clan. We all shrugged it off and tolerated it for the sake of my brother’s son. We all thought as long as he was happy nothing else mattered.

My sister and I noticed that our brother seemed depressed and preoccupied at times and decided to ask him what was worrying him. He told us his son seemed upset and unhappy and he was worried his son’s marriage was in trouble. He hoped that the new house project would bring enough joy to the couple and that it would help carry them over this rough spot. My brother also told us that he had taken a ride out to visit the renovation of his old house that his son now owned and had experienced something that had him deeply upset and concerned.

He told us he had just finished walking around the construction site where he felt a cold uneasiness around him and  the house. He said he could not put his finger on it but felt a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach as he walked around the newly framed part of what was once his old home. He said it seemed joyless and cold and this really upset my brother.

He was walking back to his car to leave when something caught his eye. My brother told us that there standing in the middle of the back yard about 25 feet away from him was the clear defined figure of our deceased mother. He said she was in shades of grey, black and white but clear as day -there stood our mother looking directly at him.  My brother was startled and just stood there in shock looking at our mother’s ghost as she looked directly back at him. He said he think he muttered the word “Mom” but was not sure if he said it out loud. He said that our mother just stood there.  She was not smiling in fact she   looked concerned and finally she said to my brother the word “Jake”. With that my mother disappeared. My brother became upset and headed quickly to his car and drove home.

My sister and I did not know what to make of it. Jake was a longtime friend of  our family who we knew since childhood, in fact we all grew up with Jake. Jake sold insurance in the town where we all lived as kids. My sister and I thought our brother’s experience was odd and unnerving to say the least.

My brother was very upset by this vision of my mother and continued to show signs of upset and depression.  We soon found out that his son was becoming distant and cold to my brother as well. We were concerned about the unfolding events.

My  sister  decided to talk to our oldest brother about the changes taking place in our brother’s life and his vision of our mother. My sister and my oldest brother decided to take a ride together to visit the house to see if they could figure out what was going on.

My sister and my older brother drove out to the construction site of the house to find they just arrived as the young wife was leaving. They pulled up to the house and got out of the car. The young wife marched up to them and without a greeting of any kind yelled at them” what the hell are you doing here?”  She told them to stay the hell away and got in her car and sped away. My older brother and sister were stunned at her actions. My older brother felt something was very wrong and he and my sister walked around the outside of the house being renovated. They too felt a strong bleak dark unhappiness around the house that was upsetting and sad.

My brother and sister decided to leave the property and turned to walk back towards the front of the house where their car was parked in the driveway by the newly constructed garage. They both stopped in their tracks as they came face to face with the ghost of our mother standing before them at the corner of the new garage. Her colorless image stood grimly looking at them. My brother and sister stood frozen next to each other at the site of our mother’s spirit standing before them. Suddenly both my brother and sister heard my mother’s voice clearly say the name -Matt-O- to them. With that she dissolved into a mist and vanished before their eyes.

Shaken and shocked my brother and sister ran to their car and drove quickly away from the house. They knew that our mother was going to great lengths to show herself to her children and also without question was seriously trying to warn us about something. As they drove home they tried to piece together what was happening to the family with the two strange visits from their mother’s spirit and what she was trying to convey with her message of the two names.  Jake which was the first name she gave is a longtime friend of the entire family . Matt-O is a cousin of the families on our deceased mother’s side who is a local Police dectective. My brother and sister thought it wise to visit each one of the men to see if they could find a link to their mothers visit and their brother’s unhappiness.

The next day my oldest brother and my sister went to visit Jake at his insurance office in town.  They knew Jake well and did not hesitate to tell him about the strange appearance of our mother’s ghost at my other brother’s old house.  They explained to Jake how our brother had given the house to his son and his wife and told him about the renovation being done to the house. They also told him about the odd nasty behavior of the wife when they drove up to the house the day before.

Jake sat and listened carefully to my brother and sister. Jake seemed concerned but not shocked by the report of our ghostly mothers visit. Jake explained that he had been meaning to contact my brother as he was confused by recent phone calls by my brother’s son’s wife in regards to the amount of life insurance my brother had and if it would be possible to increase the amount as a surprise to my brother as a gift from his son. Knowing this was a strange request Jake only told the young wife he would look in to it and left the matter standing until he could contact my brother to see what was going on. Jake knew at once the request was sinister and was trying to figure out a way to approach my brother with this odd request by his son and his wife.

Jake suggested the family contact Matt-O to ask his advice on this delicate situation as he was family and a detective in the local police department and would know if there was any reason to be concerned by all the strange actions of my brother’s son, his wife and her family. Jake also thought that the visit of our mother’s spirit made it clear she felt it needed attention which she made clear by making two visits to her children.

My brother and sister took Jake's advice and did visit Matt-O.  Matt listened to my family tell the story of the strange behavior of my brothers son and his family as well as the visit of our mothers spirit. He called Jake and spoke with him about the insurance requests and told us he would look into the matter and get back to our family if he found anything odd to be concerned about.”

This is the point where this story ends as far as my friend relating it to me. The rest of the story I will tell as delicately as possible.

My friend’s brother and sister were called about a week after the police detective told them he would look into the matter. I will not go in to details as it is too painful for all involved. I will tell you that plans were being made to harm my friend’s brother by his son’s wife and her family for the reward of money and my friend’s brother’s estate. The plan was sloppy, easily discovered by the detective and cruel.  Sadly people were arrested and family sent to prison.  It was heartache to all concerned and a needless crime of greed hate and anger by evil mean people.

Without question this  is an awful story with a bad ending however the ending could have been far worse if not for the love of the families mother who even in death found  her way  back to warn her children about the plot to end her sons life. If the spirit of their mom had not warned three of her children to this danger the outcome may have been far worse for the family.

Sadly this destructive event  has caused pain and sadness for all involved. It was the work of evil people planning harm to an innocent victim. There is no way for this story to have a happy outcome which is truly sad for all concerned. It also makes me wonder if those who spend their time on earth doing mean spirited harmful things understand that they one day will pay for their vicious  deeds. One thing I think we all can agree on is that karma can take time but for sure be it this life or another payback takes place and as the saying goes- "payback can be a bitch"!

Needless to say this family did not need this event to believe in the afterlife. They already had a long understanding that the spirit continued on. The visit of their mother to warn them about this devastating  plot was listened to and her direction followed by her children who knew she loved them and was trying to warn them. Together they weathered this storm and together they pray often for peace and happiness of their mother’s soul and thank her for continuing to watch over them.

I found this to be an extreme story and took time to think about relating it to others via this article. I decided with the permission of my friend to write it in hope it will somehow allow others to open their hearts and minds to things they may reject or fear. I personally think that the love we have for the people in our life does follow over to death. I think that the good and love part of being a living human being is the entire reason for life.  It is our choice and our test during each and every day of being alive. We face love and hate as well as good and evil daily. It is our choice and our fate how we handle it . Without the balance of love light and good  you have only darkness and evil.  The only thing that can combat that in life or in death is the love we develop and the good we do while living our human life.   When making a choice think of these things and understand the right way will last with you far past this one lifetime. Here is to good choices, choosing to do the right thing in life and as much shared love as possible to fill our days while  walking this earth.

1. Hi Curtis, please can you give us a bit of info on your background?

I've actually had a life-long interest in Ufology, joining 'Flying Saucer Review' when I was about 10 years old.  I remember searching the shelves of our local library as a small child, for anything relating to UFOs, as well as other areas of interest such as ghosts and the paranormal.  I now have an extensive library on the subject, having never stopped collecting.

It was also as a small child that I became fascinated by TV and film 'stunts' - helped along by the popular TV show at the time, "The Fall Guy".  I sent a lot of letters to TV stations back then, asking how I might become a stuntman.  One reply I got, from the British Actors Equity Association, I kept into adulthood - it explained exactly which skills I'd need to become a professional stuntman..  Seven years of gruelling training later, I qualified, aged 25.

2. Tell us a bit more about the stunt work you do.

Most of my career has been spent doubling for actors.  Doing their running, jumping, climbing, driving, shooting and fight scenes.  I've also crashed cars, been set on fire a few times, fell from tall buildings, performed underwater stunts, ridden horses, and been blown up more times than I care to remember.

3. Working as a stunt man, you probably have many memorable moments, but is there any that really stand out to you?

I think the first scene I had with 'James Bond' is memorable, because I was such a big fan of the genre growing up.  I had a scene with Pierce Brosnan in the Bond movie 'Tomorrow Never Dies', in which Bond kills me while planting mines on the enemy stealth ship.  As the life drains from my body, Bond places his empty backpack on me, and fires at the enemy.  The bad guys return fire as Bond holds me out to get riddled with bullets.  As my lifeless body falls from the ship into the South China Seas, the baddies get on the radio to say they've killed James Bond!  They'd actually killed me instead.

4.Have you formed any lasting friendships with any celebrities that you have worked with? And if so, who?

I tend to keep all such relationships on a professional footing, so I don't socialise away from the set.  You do get to see the same faces again and again, especially in television, and I've had several actors over the years happy to see me again.  Within minutes, it's like there has been no gap in time, as they remind me of the last stunt I performed for them, and how it turned out after editing.

5. What advice would you give to anyone wanting to get into the same line of work?

I'd advise that they talk to as many stunt performers as possible, to get a true idea of the reality of working in such a competitive industry.  It's extremely difficult to get into, the standards are very high - and once you qualify, there are no guarantees of work. That being said, if it's a genuine dream to become a movie stuntman, then I say - go for it!  We should always pursue our dreams, and settle for nothing less.

6. Can you tell the members a little bit about why you are in the World Guinness Book of Records?

Sure, I hold two Guinness World Records, both broken in 2002, and both still unbroken.  I performed The Longest Parachute Jump in February 2002 by leaping from a hot-air balloon 25,000ft above the earth.  Wearing oxygen, I managed to fly my parachute for a full 45 minutes over the Andalucian Mountains in Spain, bettering the previous record by 5 minutes. I returned in May 2002, and bungee jumped from a balloon flying 15,200ft above Puertollano - The Highest Bungee Jump in history.

7. You are currently conducting seminars and talks as a Motivational Speaker, what does this entail? How does it change lives? and how can people get involved?

That's right - I'm loving this new avenue of Motivational Speaking!  It works in various ways - I'm mainly invited as a guest speaker to existing events or shows.  These can be business related, or events like 'Mind, Body and Spirit' exhibitions for example.

The other way is through my own seminars that I run twice a year.  I have a one day event I put on in a posh hotel, and I have a 3 day event that I run at a famous film studio.  Both events are aimed at getting clear on your dreams, making slight changes to your mind set (I'm also an NLP Practitioner) and then using a very effective formula to turn your desires into reality.

This formula works - it's the same formula I've used to become a stuntman, break world records, travel the world, write a book, you name it.  It works every single time.

8. A little birdie tells us you have a new book out soon titled 'Seven Paths to Freedom'. Can you tell us a little bit about the book?

That's right - the book was written to share the formula I just told you about!  What I want for myself, I want for everybody - so I wrote a book, teaching exactly how anyone can set a worthy goal, and achieve it.  By 'worthy', I mean worthy of you - a goal that will make your heart sing when you achieve it, a goal that will see you living 'on purpose' at last, not just 'existing from day to day'.

The book is the story of one of my mountain climbs (I've climbed a few mountains around the world).  On the journey, I meet a wise guide, and it is through the wise teachings of this mountain guide, that the reader learns the secrets of the winning formula that changed my life.

9. When will the book be available to buy and how can members get their own copy?

I've written a free 7 part course actually, based on the book.  So members can start now, even though the book isn't out yet.

10. Finally can you tell us a little about the Curtis away from your busy schedule? What do you like to do in your spare time etc?

As many of you who follow my blog know, I have been fascinated with the paranormal since living in a house I am convinced, beyond doubt, was haunted. I’ve since learned a lot and encountered a lot concerning the spirit world…as have many millions of others over the years! I’ve also been fascinated with books since I learned to read. As soon as I mastered writing…as much as an eight year old can master it!…I’ve been writing stories. Mostly, though, in the early years, I made up stories in my head…constantly! Many people in my life often accused me of being absent minded or claimed I had my “head in the clouds” or was “off in la la land” when the truth of it was quite simple…I was often lost in a story. I still tell myself stories when trying to fall asleep at night or when I’ve some idle time! I often rewrite a movie scene to my own satisfaction or I’ll rewrite scenes from a book I’m currently reading. It’s in my DNA. I swear it is. How does one NOT do something they feel so compelled to do? When something takes hold of you like that…I believe it’s your calling…what you were born to do. What you were meant to share with the world!

Although I read a LOT of romances, mostly regency and historical (but not limited to), I also LOVE stories involving ghosts!! They fascinate me to no end. This fascination has led me to try many things…crystal ball gazing, scrying (which is similar but doesn’t need a crystal ball, just any sort of shiny, clear surface), automatic writing, channeling, table tipping, séances, the Ouija or Spirit Boards. Yeah, I’ve dabbled quite a bit and the more I dabble, the more fascinated I become! Life truly does go on after physical death. For some of us, though, it’s easier for us to keep the two existences separated and beyond our conscious awareness. It can be quite scary, the spirit world…the UNSEEN. But for those who approach it with a pure heart…GOOD intentions and no malice whatsoever…well, I just don’t believe there is anything to fear. NOT to say there aren’t bad things going on. Obviously evil exists. Those who turn from LOVE (or, as I think of it…GOD) and who have negative feelings involved, they are the ones who fall to evil deeds or experiences.

Many people believe that anything to do with the paranormal is evil. Hogwash. GOD is part of the paranormal world and there is nothing evil about God. Not in MY BOOK! (smile). What makes something BAD is the use/thoughts/actions behind it. Even the Christian Cross has been used for evil deeds! But, does everyone think of it as an evil thing? No! Even the controversial gun has been used for good…keeping evil at bay even as some are using it to do atrocious, vile things!

I was completely shocked, disgusted and grief stricken at what took place in that poor school a short time back. How could anyone point a gun at a child…an innocent little child…and kill them? That is evil at it’s worst. Many people question how God could let something like that happen. But that’s the thing with this world we live in…we have this agreement with God that if we come here, we are free to act out our will. It’s what the rest of us do that determines the extent of the evil committed. Often in tragedy, people come together and something positive emerges out of it. Laws change, people look at things differently, appreciate what they have, give love to the grieving. LOVE often spikes after a tragedy. THAT is God at work…always working within us in the wake of a tragic deed.

Many of us utter the “meant to comfort” words, “They are now at peace with God, an angel in heaven” and I’m sure those of us who utter those words, mean it. We do. And that’s great. It really is. Of COURSE we hare happy that our loved one is at PEACE and now lives with GOD and is an ANGEL in HEAVEN but that doesn’t ease our pain, our sense of loss…the hole left in our heart, our soul and our life! I’m a mother of three, step-mother of four and grandmother to nine and the thought of losing any one of them makes my heart cringe in dread. It’s something I don’t EVER want to experience. But the grief would be worse if I didn’t believe their soul lived on in joy with God. Those of us who believe in the afterlife cling to that belief and try, somehow, to come to grips with tragic loss.

One way to move on is to make contact with a loved one who has crossed over. I recently started watching Long Island Medium and the show makes me cry just about every time! It’s so touching to see the relief on the faces of the grieving when Theresa (the medium) shares messages from “the other side”. It wasn’t until I experienced a similar experience that I truly understood the value of that kind of communication! When my grandparents died I was totally devastated. I truly wondered how I was going to go on through my life without them. I LOVED them with my whole heart and their deaths punched serious holes in that heart! Then one day, many years later, I experienced a spiritual reunion with my Nana. It was THE MOST AMAZING experience of my life!! I FELT her in my soul. I truly did. I don’t miss them so much anymore for they visit me in dreams, and when I am thinking about them…they will often give me a sign that they hear me! For example, my grandfather’s name is Lafayette. If I am thinking about him pretty hard, I’ll suddenly see his name…either on a license plate or a street sign…or from wherever! It’s not a common name and to see it right when I’m thinking about him is just too coincidental and let me tell you…coincidences are God (the afterlife) at work!!

For a while I was doing quite a bit of automatic writing and I managed to communicate with my grandfather this way. He gave me a few messages that made no sense to me but were made clear by my mother when talking to her about it. There was no WAY I could have known the things he told me. The messages could not have come from anyone else! Both my grandparents and my dearest uncle Paul (who died when I was 14 and he was 29) have come through a medium at the Spiritualist Church that I attend! The messages and descriptions made by the medium were too specific to claim coincidence! It was THEM. I KNOW it! I can’t even tell you how comforting that is to me!!

So, this fascination with the spirit world has influenced my writing considerably. All three of my books: “Be Still, My Love“, “Hidden Voices” and “No Matter What” are paranormal stories based on living persons dealing with the afterlife. As excited as I am to share those stories with anyone interested in those type of books, it’s the messages and emails I am getting from readers that truly warms my heart! People are telling me that they are finding comfort in my stories. How wonderful is that? I LOVE that someone feels BETTER after reading my books! We writers write for many reasons…to entertain, to amuse, to scare, to teach…the list goes on. I have been thinking hard about WHY I write. First, I write because the story in my head WANTS to be told but in the back of my mind, I am hoping that the readers come away from the story with something worthwhile. I want readers to think about other options and ideas and concepts. AND, I want them to be entertained! I want to share stories because I LOVE stories myself!!

It’s a tough world and I truly find the books I read to give me some relief from it all. The romances give me romance, the mysteries give me intrigue, the humor makes me laugh and the ghost stories give me thoughts to ponder. The thing is…creativity comes from where? I believe it comes from Universal Forces (GOD!). I am moved to create what I do for a reason. There has to be a REASON why I wrote those three books and when readers write to tell me that they feel better after reading them, well, it just all becomes worthwhile and meaningful. I will admit…in all fairness and honesty…that not everyone likes my stories! Oh no! I’ve been ripped into pretty good by those who don’t like stories that mention God or spiritual views (religious matter they call it…though I try to stay away from “religion” in any specific sense). My reviews on Amazon and Goodreads are varied: from very bad to very good. Obviously I’ve moved people in positive and negative ways! (sadly!) But then, we all get something different out of the books we read (or the movies we watch!), don’t we? Sorry as I am for those people who dislike my stories, I focus on those who feel better and have gotten something positive from the experience. I do this not because the dissatisfied readers aren’t important (besides, you CAN’T please everyone no matter how much you wish that you could!). No, I focus on the positive because it is NOT my intention to upset anyone! Heavens no! So if someone dislikes my story, I’m sorry for that and wish them well in finding stories that they do like but I’m not going to stop writing! The truth is, some people are going to be negative no matter what you do and that can’t be helped. We are in a “free will” world after all!!

So anyway. I write what I do because it fascinates me. It gives me comfort. I totally enjoy it and I really love it when readers get something useful and comforting from it! I was going to recount a couple of my more recent events, however my time is becoming increasingly precious at this point in time. I believe I will wrap it up for the time being. If I get more time I will continue to write.

I know after reading some of the comments about my recounts my events have been called a hoax by many. Here what I have to say, I know what I saw and I did my best to recount everything as best I could after all this time. Believe what you want of my tales or don’t believe them at all. I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. This is only the beginning for me. I feel that I am wasting my time being a part of a slavery based economic system. The powers that be have done a very nice job keeping the system in check and making sure that people like me who genuinely want to help humanity succeed and survive the next couple hundred years; don’t get taken seriously. That is fine with me and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. One must find their on path in the chaotic world that we live in. I believe I have found mine.

Here is my message that if you were too busy getting caught up in the small details that you may have missed. We as human beings are capable of great things and great destruction. The powers that be want the latter of the two. I would prefer the earlier. If we are to overcome the daunting challenges that we are going to be facing we need to be unified in that effort. Every one of us is capable of breaking free and discerning fact from fiction. In fact I wrote my experiences with that in mind to 1)keep my self and my family safe and 2) to keep those who would seek to harm me in their comfort zones with a few little bits of fiction in there to fill the gaps.  

Yes I did fill in on a few things however the message remains the same. Every recount is as accurate as I can recall however I did have filler content in there to bridge between events. There is indeed an alliance that has our intentions at heart. It may very well be called the Galactic federation of the light. I to this day still don’t remember exactly their wording for it but we do have help.

You hear that… We do have help. All we have to do is get the organizations behind the governments and controlling parties to be shaken, uncomfortable and second guessing themselves. They are the ones that filter through everything and make sure it doesn’t make us think too much or start to ask questions; questions that we should be asking. That was the whole point of my series. I am going to be continuing my pursuit of this. It is my duty as a human being, father, friend, husband and son.

We are bound for so much more than paying taxes, bills and killing each other. I know I am doing my part to help get people together, help people understand that we need to co-operate and overcome the barriers put in place. I ask this of people who are like minded, open minded and have that feeling that something is going down that we can help get over it.

Together we can evolve the way we were meant to, survive off the energies around us, to transcend the need for violence and our physical self. That is what I took from this whole experience, which I would not wish on my worst enemy. I have come out with a clear head. More importantly I know where I have to go. How I am getting there I have yet to work out all the kinks yet.

I have just started.

Things were quiet for 8 months after that last visit where they had told me that the world wasn't ready to have as much concrete evidence that other races exist. However after that happened, I did take notice of certain changes that have happened to me. I had taken note at this point that despite the fact everyone else sick i had not gotten sick once nor come even close to getting sick since this all began. I also noticed that i was more sensitive to the magnetic and other energy fields that allowed to me feel them coming way before they had gotten even close. There were also time i just had feelings regarding future events that i had no knowledge about and 99% of the time they were correct. I could also feel other people’s intentions and read peoples futures and past to determine what they wanted. I also seemed to heal much quicker from injuries then I had previously did. It was as if something or someone flipped a switch in my body. Was this some of the ways I was supposed to help the human race? I think so. Anyways back to the next event that helped form me to who i am today.

It was a warm summer night. My wife and i were getting ready to go to bed when we both saw a small bright light off in the field. As we observed it it took off straight into the sky without a sound. About a half hour later we heard what sounded like a baby crying. Only this cry was so deep that it shook the windows and it felt like it went right to the center of our brains. We then decided to open the window to see if we could see something. We also shut off the lights. When we did it; whatever it was quieted down temporally. Then it picked up right back off where it left off. It was very difficult to determine how far away it was however it seemed to start from far away then proceeded to get closer.

Once it got within about one hundred fifty feet of the house it did not try to get any closer. As it settled in on the house the "crys" got more and more intense. It got to a point where it hurt both of our ears and brains. It then proceeded to slowly circle the house, it was about three times that i decided to try and get a good look at it, we had a five hundred watt flood light on the one corner of the house. Once it sounded like the creature was around where the light was i turned it on.

Now I did not get a good look at it. It had scurried away as i felt its surprise. However the silhouette that i saw made me very uncomfortable. It stood on all fours, about four feet high. It was very muscular and had a width of three feet wide. It also had what looked like spikes or spines that lined its back. It also when it realized that it had been found it had looked at me with its deep red eyes that glowed well after the light was turned off.

The creature continued to circle the house for about another hour or so then it just was quiet. Likewise shortly after it went quiet the same light that brought it returned and then after a few minutes shot straight up in the sky with no sounds. The next morning I went out to find so the tracks, oh did I find some. It did indeed have four feet and it must've been very heavy as all the in prints left by it were very deep. The tracks however were similar to bear tracks on I know it wasn't a bear.

However it wasn't over. The same "cry's" returned for three consecutive night. Even my neighbors talked about saying that they have lived there their entire lives and never once heard anything like it. However shortly after that one amazing happened. Let me tell you about it.

It was a nice summer afternoon. My wife and I decided go for a walk. It was about time for the wild berries that grew around our house to be ready. A short time into our walk we see this larger animal race towards us on the road. We both stop and just waited for it to get closer. As it approached we realized it was a baby deer. It raced past us, then stopped behind us and turned around. Next thing we know we are petting a wild deer as it sniffed out pants, shoes and hands. We then heard a grunt from the bush and the deer perked its ears up and it took off into the bush.

I think mom wasn't too happy with the baby deer checking us out. Anyways later on that walk we had picked a ton of berries and were taking them home for my wife to eat later. Then off in the distance I heard hooves coming towards us; however i didn't pay it any attention. As approached I felt a wet nose and really wet tongue in the palm of my hand that was covered with berry juice. It was that baby deer again. Once again we got to pet it and touch it as it cleaned up my hands. It felt really weird but the whole experience I bet only a hand full of people have experienced. After everything that has happened and then this. I do believe that it was a sign that things are changing. For the better..... to be continued
