Chimpanzee demonstrates its astonishing memory

In the short film, recorded by experts from Kyoto University, a male chimpanzee named Ayumu is seen completing a memory task which requires him to touch the numbers from one to nine on a screen in ascending order. What makes the task so difficult – for humans at least – is that after touching the number one the rest of the sequence becomes obscured by white squares, meaning the remainder of the task is memory-dependant. Humans find it impossible to remember the positions of all nine numbers after seeing them so briefly, but for chimps the task is a doddle… VIDEO
